Group Lessons

Why choose a group lesson?

Do you want a chance to speak English with others? Join a group and develop your confidence and fluency alongside other learners in a relaxed, informal setting.

Conversation isn't about proving a point; true conversation is about going on a journey with the people you are speaking with.

Casual Conversation Group

The group will have a theme each week, and each group will be given a list of conversation prompts. But conversation doesn’t have to stay on topic, see where the conversation naturally takes you
Best for you if:
• You want an informal chat
• You want to talk about a variety of subjects
• You don’t have time for preparation before the lesson

Discussion Group

The group will have an assigned article to read each week, and in the lesson will be given some questions designed to inspire discussion.
Best for you if:
• You want a more structured conversation
• You want to get some bonus reading practice
• You want to develop your debate skills in English

Got a suggestion?

Opportunity English group lessons are currently under development. As always, I want to be sure I'm creating something that will help you reach your English goals, so if you have a suggestion for a topic or group type,  please let me know.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people will be in the group? There will never be more than 4 people in your conversation or discussion group. If necessary, we can use break out rooms to split the group.

What if I make a mistake? I know it’s easy for me to say, but try not to worry. These group lessons are focused on communication, confidence and fluency so your English being exactly correct isn’t as important. As long as you and your conversation partners understand each other, it's fine. You will have access to a native speaking teacher who can offer quick corrections, clear up any confusion, but try to keep your focus on having a good conversation

If you want session(s) that focus in-depth on vocabulary or grammar, take a look at lessons and packages.

Isn’t it better to speak with native speakers? The reality is, there are more non-native speakers of English in the world than native speakers, so this kind of conversation is more likely to happen in your everyday life. During group classes, a native speaker will be around to help if necessary.

If you want an individual session(s) with a native speaker, take a look at lessons and packages.

When/how long will group lessons be? This depends on the group members. Once I have enough interest at a particular level, I will offer group(s) of the most requested lengths and times.

How  much will group lessons be? I want to keep costs as low as possible so anyone can have the chance to practice. I’m looking at between £1 -£5 a session,  but it will depend on the amount of interest I get. So encourage anyone you know who might be interested to register their interest
